Red Kangaroo

The red kangaroo is the largest marsupial. Females have one baby at a time, which at birth is smaller than a tennis ball. The infant immediately climbs into its mother's pouch and does not emerge for two months. A baby kangaroo is called a joey. Eventually, the joey will stick it's arms and head out of its mom's pouch. Red kangaroos hop on their back that are legs full of muscle. Female red kangaroos are smaller,lighter and faster. Male kangaroos are much more powerful. They have very sharp claws on their feet and use them to fight enemies. Red kangaroos are being hunted for their fur and meat. Kangaroo meat is becoming popular in some countries.

Lynx

Lynxes are very cool carnivores.Lynx eat mice,squirrels,and birds but their favorite meal are Snowshoe Hare.Lynx breed in early spring or late winter and about two months later the female gives birth to a litter of 1-4.Lynxes are mammals so that means their young do not hatch from an egg. Lynx hunt at night so they are rarely seen by humans.The lynx is a cat that hunts the northern forests of North America, Europe, and Asia. Very little lynx survive in Europe but when they do lynx are mostly bigger than the ones that live in North America. Lynx have very good hearing thanks to their tufts on their ears.The tufts act as hearing aids to help them hear.Not only do lynx have great hearing but also they have very keen eyesight.They can see a mouse from about 250 feet away. Lynx are endangered because hunters hunt them for their beautiful fur.

Black Rhino

Even though the Black rhino is called the black rhino it is more of a brownish color not black. About 3600 black rhinos live today. Hopefully that number will go up. The most fascinating part to me is the rhinos horns.They have two horns on the skull that are made of keratin with the larger front horn typically 50 cm (20 in) long, exceptionally up to 140 cm (55 in). The longest known horn measured nearly 1.5 m (4.9 ft) in length. That is taller than me. The black rhino is a herbivore so it eats leafy plants,thorny bushes,branches,shoots, and fruit.

Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly

The Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly has been the Maryland state insect since 1973. Very little people know about the checkerspot because they are close to extinction.Like other butterflies, the Baltimore Checkerspot searches for a host plant, which is the White Turtlehead. The problem is that the deer in the checkerspots habitat like to eat the turtlehead.Its body or thorax is dark brown, a color which extends to its wings, spotted white and then orange on their edges. As part of the family Nymphalidae,it has hairy forelegs not long enough for walking. The prominent knobs on its antennae also are a trait of this butterfly family.

Jaguar

The jaguar is an amazing animal. Their design is really cool. They are endangered so there are not many jaguars left.They are hunted for their fur.Their average lifespan in the wild is 12-15 years. They are a mammal. They are also carnivores. That means they eat meat. Different from other cats jaguar like rivers because that's were some of there prey lives. They aren't bad swimmers. They usually have 1-4 cubs. When a cub is born they are blind so their mom has to defend them from danger that may come.

Hippo

Hippos spend most of their time under water. They are very dangerous if encountered in the wild. They are herbivores. So that means they eat plants. They live in Africa. They live near Rivers and swamps. They are the third biggest land animal. The only animals bigger are elephants and white rhinos. Their predators are Poachers, Lions, and crocodiles. They weigh 3 and a half tons. Their hide alone can weigh 1 and a half tons. There are two types of hippos in Africa the Pigmy and regular hippo. They are very aggressive animals.

Alligator Gar

Alligator gar are very smart animals. They barely are seen. They sometimes attack humans if they see them in the water. They only come up to take a breath about every 30 minutes . If your trying to catch one you must be a very skilled fisherman. They are very prehistoric animals. They are around 170 pounds. They have very sharp teeth. Even a baby alligator gar could bite you hard enough to make you bleed and need stitches. They are found in rivers in North and Central America.

Gobies

Gobies are very cool fish. They are dazzling in color. Some have stripes some have spots. There are good things and bad things about gobies. Lets start with the good news. They eat a lot of things that you may not want in your tank like algae and invertebrates that may do harm to your tank. Also, they are not aggressive at all they get along well with other fish in your tank. They do not need a lot of space to live in they are often kept in small tanks. Now we are onto the bad news. If you want to get a goby there favorite meal is copepods which take a while to develop in your tank. It usually takes sadly 4 to 6 months. Also they spend about 60% of their time behind rocks. Which means you don't see their beautiful designs a lot.

Grizzly Bear

The grizzly bear is a large predator that is different from black bears due to a distinctive hump on its shoulders. Grizzly bears have concave faces and long claws about the length of a human finger. Their coloration is usually darkish brown but can vary from very light cream to black. The long guard hairs on their backs and shoulders often have white tips and give the bears a "grizzled" appearance, hence the name "grizzly." The correct scientific name for the species is “brown bear”, but only coastal bears in Alaska and Canada are referred to as such, while inland bears and those found in the lower 48 states are called grizzly bears. Their top speed is 35 mp. Their life span is 20-25 years.

Bicolor Blenny

The Bicolor Blenny is also known as the Two-colored Blenny. The Bicolor is so-named because the anterior half is blue to dull brown, and the posterior half is dull orange. Males are generally larger than females and experience a succession of color changes, including blue, when breeding. These Blennies exhibit great personality in the aquarium.
Generally found amid crevices and rocks on the bottom of its environment, the Bicolor Blenny needs a tank of at least 30 gallons with scattered rocks for perching and hiding. Opinions are mixed as to whether the Bicolor Blenny is a peaceful tank member and safe for invertebrates.

Flame Hawkfish

This fish's body is a brilliant flaming red color, has a contrasting black band on its back, black bands around the eyes, and grows to about 4 inches. The recommended tank size is 20 gallons.The Flame Hawkfish is a carnivore with a diet preference for small crustaceans, some sessile as well as motile invertebrates. It will eat feather dusters and ornamental shrimps, as well as may pick hermit crabs and snails right out of their shells! Even though fish are not a preferred food source, they may try and eat smaller fish if the opportunity arises.

Bearded Dragon

A bearded dragons are great pets. They're lifespan is about 10 years on average. They eat Crickets, mealworms, superworms also eat Mixed vegitables. They dont get too big. They get from 13 to 24 inches. They are mostly found in Australia. To tell if a bearded dragon is a boy they should have a bigger head and darker beards.

Thompson's gazelle

A gazelles scientific name is Gazella thomsonii. Its life span is 10 and a half years. They are herbivores. There habitat has open plains and grasslands. The predators that live there are Cheetahs, lions, leopards, hunting dogs, hyenas. They cross rivers with zebras and wildebeest to get to a feeding spot.

Gorilla

Gorillas are really really strong.It walks on all fours.Their lifespan is about 30 years.They live in groups from 10 to 30. Gorillas make platforms for its shelter it uses branches and makes its nest. There is a gorilla that can do sign language his name is Koko. Gorillas are herbivores. That means they only eat plants.

Sand Shark

A sand shark spends most of its time buried under sand. Sand sharks usually grow 5 to 9 feet. Like most sharks sand sharks have gills so they don't have to come up for air. Sand sharks eat small fish, squid, lobsters, and crabs. A baby sand shark is called a pup. The female shark usually has 2 pups each time the shark gives birth.

Lion

Female lions do not have a mane but Males do. Lions are carnivores. The lions scientific name is Panthera leo. Lions live in the Savannas,grasslands,dense bush, and woodlands. Female lions usually do the hunting. Male lions are so lazy they barely ever hunt.

Labador Retriever

A Labrador retriever is a very smart dog. Out of all retrievers Labradors are the best swimmers. Labs are very friendly when other pets are around them. Labs live for about 10 to 12 years. Labs have such big appetites they eat so much! They have so much energy and they always want to play. Labs come in black,brown,and yellow. Labs do shed and have a double coat.
